NEW DELHI, June 12 – Taking their fight to the next level, the disgruntled MLAs are now planning to boycott the ensuing Monsoon Session of the State Legislative Assembly.
Buoyed by the success of their maiden attempt to dislodge the Chief Minister, they have worked out a strategy to immobilise functioning of the Gogoi Government even as details are now emerging about their meeting with the Congress chief and the Prime Minister.
The disgruntled MLAs besides targeting the Chief Minister, also alleged a deep nexus between him and Akhil Gogoi holding him responsible for stalling of most of the development projects. They accused Akhil Gogoi of acting at the behest of Tarun Gogoi camp. Akhil Gogoi’s activities were reportedly discussed at length during the group’s meeting with Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde.
Akhil Gogoi has been targeting State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma mercilessly, thereby earning the wrath of the disgruntled MLAs.
A top leader of the group in a free-wheeling interaction with this newspaper said, as far as they are concerned it is checkmate for the Chief Minister. “We hear that a group of 21 Congress-men including MLAs is being readied to rush to Delhi to lobby in favour of the Chief Minister. If they do that we will bring in all the 35 MLAs of our group. Let there be a show-down in the national capital,” he said, requesting anonymity in view of his status in the Gogoi Government.
