Dear Friends in media,
Greater Noida an extension of NOIDA is a planned township with an ambition of its own railway station and an international airport. Greater Noida Industrial Development Authoritycreated by a notification on 28th January 1919 is responsible for the development of this township. Greater Noida‘s notified area includes 124 villages and 40,000 Hectares of prime agricultural land irrigated by upper Ganga canal located in the Ganga Yamuna Doab region.
Recent incidents in the Bhatta Parsaul is tip of the iceberg only and a large number of villages have been protesting against the forceful land acquisition since the time their land has been notified for acquisition without their consent under the provisions of draconian land acquisition act and often invoking the urgency clause.
It is in such a context that residents of nearly 60 villages together under the banner of Bhumi Adhigrahan Pratirodh Andolan have been waging a consistent struggle against forceful land acquisition and challenged it in High Court which has annulled the invocation of urgency clause.
We invite you for an interaction with the Gram Pradhans of the villages Sadhopur, Dhoom, Khairpur, Vaidpura, Sunpura, Sahdulapur in Greater Noida, Dr. Roopesh Verma, Sri Bhupendera Singh Rawat and others from 3 pm onwards on May 19th at Indian Women Press Corps, 5, Windsor Place, Ashoka Road, New Delhi 110001.
