GUWAHATI, June 13 – A person claiming himself to be the organizing secretary of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today met Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and tried to negotiate on the issue of construction of big dams.
Akhil Gogoi, president of KMSS, said that at around 6 pm today, he received a call from a senior officer of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh who informed him of the incident. He said that the person told the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister that he was authorised by Akhil Gogoi to negotiate on the construction of big dams.
Gogoi said that he had also spoken to Tuki over phone to inform him that no such person was sent to Arunachal Pradesh to discuss the mega dam issue. “Nabam Tuki said that the person wanted to meet him and sent him a visiting card. The person also submitted a forged letter to him. We requested the Chief Minister to arrest the cheat but he had left the place by that time,” Gogoi said.
The KMSS president said that about six months back, some persons harassed the officers posted in the office of the resident commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh in Guwahati by seeking money in the name of the KMSS and the Samiti immediately informed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Guwahati, on the issue.
Gogoi said that the KMSS has been receiving complaints of some persons demanding money in the name of the organization in different parts of the State and appealed to all sections of people to immediately inform the KMSS office bearers if any person demands money in the name of KMSS.
