GUWAHATI: To break the stalemate, Public sector utility, NHPC has taken to dialogue process.
The 2000 MW Lower Subansari hydro electric project has not seen any progress since December last year.On Monday G Sai Prasad, CMD, NHPC Ltd held discussion with Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) General Secretary, Akhil Gogoi and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) to break the stalemate.
Akhil has sought a comprehensive ecological study of the Brahmaputra and its basin. KMSS demanded that there should be another feasibility study of big river dams in the upper reaches of the Brahmaputra taking into specific issues of geology, seismic condition in particular.
KMSS added till such studies are completed, the government of India must stop temporarily and immediately all ongoing works of river dams on the tributaries of the Brahmaputra including the works on Lower Subansiri hydro-power project.
