The Times Of India, 23, Dec, 2014 Gandhinagar: The state government has set up a ‘Japan Desk’ at the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) to expedite Japanese investment projects in the section of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) that falls in Gujarat. The desk will be headed by secretary to the chief minister, Ajay Bhadoo, who is also the chief executive officer (CEO) of the GIDB.
Japan is officially partnering the Vibrant Gujarat Summit where a number of Japanese companies are expected to sign MoUs.
Many Japanese companies have shown interest in exploring for business opportunities in Special Investment Region (SIRs) that fall in the DMIC. The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), a body supported by the Japanese government that promotes mutually beneficial trade and investment projects, has also opened a facilitation centre in the state.
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade And Industry (METI); agencies like Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO); Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and Japan Research Institute (JRI) are closely working with top business groups of that country to promote business in Gujarat.
