The Maval Sub Divisional Office (SDO) has received 10 applications from tribals who lost their ceiling land to the Lavasa Corporation. The 10 tribals submitted their written complaints to SDO Sanjay Patil at Council Hall during a public hearing on Tuesday.
The State government has directed the SDO of Maval-Mulshi to conduct a hearing for returning land to adivasis affected by the Lavasa Lake City project after the issue was taken up by the National Alliance of People’s Movement (NAPM).
Patil then issued notices to the adivasi farmers and asked them to be present for a hearing on May 24 to stake claim to 242 acres of their land, which was indirectly sold to Lavasa Corporation. The notice stated that the Maharashtra government has indicated that the 242 acres of these 17 adivasis will be returned to them,
NAPM convenor, Suniti SR told Pune Mirror that the Maharashtra government has expressed its willingness to return the 242 acres of ceiling land to the adivasis. “According to government statistics, out of the 2,340 acres of land in which doubtful transactions were made, 1,504 acres belonged to adivasis.
