HYDERABAD: The members of National Alliance for People’s Movement (NAPM) opposed the proposal of Uranium Corporation of India (UCI)� to expand the production of uranium mining in Thumalapalle in Kadapa district.
While expressing their apprehension at an all party� meeting conducted on Monday, speakers said permitting the expansion of uranium mining would be hazardous to the people living in the region. A public hearing would be conducted on June 2 for taking the consent of the local people.
Already the local villagers have been facing acute problem of ground water and the district officials few years ago had forbidden digging new borewells.
