The Times Of India, May 20 2014, Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) general body will meet on Tuesday to consider 13 proposals and 130 general body questions (GBQs). Discussion on water crisis is likely to be held following many complaints and agitations by the corporators during the last one month.
The water works department’s proposal seeking nod from the general body to water tariff hiked on April 1, 2013, can lead to angry scenes. Meanwhile, three more proposals have been added to the meeting’s agenda. One is related to recruitment of 189 applicants on compassionate grounds and two about decisions taken by the general body on two officials. Demand is to reconsider the decision taken by the house on executive engineer Dilip Jamgade.
In 1997, Jamgade’s services were terminated following his decision on some lease land. Following High Court’s order, Jamgade was reinstated in 2010. General body authorized mayor to decide on his salary from 1997 to 2010. The then mayor Archana Dehankar took decision to pay 90% of total salary to Jamgade. But the then municipal commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal reduced it to 50%. Now general body will consider the matter afresh.
Two proposals are related to National Urban Health Mission (NUHM). The general body will also take decision on the proposal to prepare development plan and existing land use plan of newly added Hudkeshwar and Narsala villages. The two plans will help in systematic development of the new areas.
One proposal is related to approval given by municipal commissioner Shyam Wardhane to Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for filing chargesheet against junior clerk Vinod Dhanvijay. The ACB had caught Dhanvijay accepting bribe last year. One of the remaining three proposals is related to appointment of a member to the standing committee by the Congress party. The Congress had delayed appointment of one of its corporator to the committee citing elections.
